KetoSports KetoCana Review
Does it Live Up to the Hype?
KetoSports is well known to many people who are familiar with keto diet supplements. And, a couple of years ago they released a product called "KetoCana" to rival the other brands of ketogenic supplements that have been surfacing the market. But does it match up well with the other products? Let's find out...
KetoCaNa is an energy drink mix that is marketed as a dietary supplement. Introduced in 2015, it aims to boost the level of ketones in the body, which is the principal behind the ketogenic diet. It comes in powder form, which is meant to be mixed with eight ounces of water. The manufacturer recommends taking the supplement at least 15 minutes before beginning a workout or exercise routine.
KetoCaNa does not contain preservatives, artificial coloring, artificial flavoring, animal by-products, lactose, or gluten. It is manufactured by KetoSports and is suitable for use by men and women.
What are the Benefits?
There are some great things that we found about the product, and here they are:
- Contains no lactose
- No artificial flavoring
- No artificial coloring
- No animal by-products
- No preservatives
This product is intended as a supplement to a ketogenic diet. The diet involves increasing the levels of ketones in the body, which places it in a metabolic state known as ketosis. When the body is in this metabolic state, it turns to the use of fat as its primary source of energy. For this reason, the diet has become quite popular among those who wish to lose weight or get into shape by burning up excess fat.
Products such as KetoCaNa are also used by those who wish to gain more benefits from their workouts at a much faster rate. The manufacturer also claims that regular use of the product will help boost energy and reduce fatigue.
One of the key selling points to KetoCaNa is that it encourages the body to go into a ketogenic state naturally. This is presumably due to the use of only natural ingredients and the absence of any artificial ingredients.
According to the manufacturer, the supplement provides a more efficient source of energy than carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Because typical diets involve the reduction or elimination of calorie consumption, dieters frequently experience reduced energy, fatigue, and other adverse effects. This can make it much harder to maintain a fitness program or stick to a diet. This product has therefore been proposed as a way to restore energy and vigor, even as calorie intake is reduced.
Those who are trying to avoid sugar for whatever reason will be pleased to know that the formulation does not contain any sugar. Instead, stevia is used as the primary sweetening ingredient. Stevia is a favorite sugar substitute and sweetener for many keto supplements (see more here ketogenicsupplementreviews.com) and diet food products. It is extracted from the leaves of plants belonging to the Stevia rebaudiana species.
A single serving of provides as much as 11.7 grams of Beta-Hydroxybutyrate (BHB). The manufacturer claims that this will provide enough energy for the user to go through the course of a typical workout or gym session.
What are the Ingredients?
- Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB). A molecule that helps produce energy in a low glucose diet.
- Calcium. An essential ingredient that is often lacking in many diets.
- Citric Acid. May inhibited ketosis and increase appetite!
- Natural Flavors
- Stevia. A natural sweetener made from a Stevia rebaudiana plant extract.
Looking at the whole picture, these ingredients seem like they would be ideally suited to the diet. However, the use of citric acid may not necessarily be a good thing, as it can stall or knock your body out of ketosis.
How Does It Taste?
The supplement comes in one flavor only, which the label claims is “natural orange.” Unfortunately, the mixture resulting from the blend of the powder and water has about as much in common with real orange juice as a commercially available powdered juice drink–and not the better ones at that. At best, I would say that it tastes like a watery glass of orange Tang with a decidedly odd and unpleasant aftertaste. At worst, I have to say that it is nearly impossible to keep down.
I browsed through a few health food supplement forums and review sites after trying it for myself the first time. I wanted to find out if others had a similar experience or if I may just have bought a bad batch. After a few minutes of looking around online, it became apparent that others shared a similar distaste for the product. One user even expressed his dread at having to take his daily glass in the morning.
Now admittedly, I did come across comments from some users who said that the taste wasn’t that bad. But one of those that found it tolerable (mind you: he said it was “tolerable”; not good) said that for what it costs, it should at least have a more palatable flavor to it.
What are the Possible Side-Effects?
As unpleasant as the flavor is for most people, it is the potential side effects that are even more distressing. Again, I turned to online reviews to see if my personal experience was shared by other users. Unfortunately, they were.
Among the most common complaints were diarrhea, indigestion, stomach upset, gassiness, and even nausea. One of the users who complained about the taste of the product, in fact, said that his stomach was “messed up” for two days afterwards. And this was after taking the supplement only once. I’d hate to think of how long he would have had to suffer if he took it before every workout as prescribed!
Another user experienced strong bouts of nausea and constant diarrhea throughout the day every time he took it. Although my reactions weren’t quite as severe, I did experience an unpleasant gassy sensation and nausea during the three times I did take it. After the third time, I had pretty much had it with this product and decided to look for another supplement that wouldn’t cause such unpleasant side effects.
Where Can I Buy KetoCana?
KetoCaNa is available on Amazon and a few other online retail sale sites. It could be available on a few other places as well but I would not recommend it. So, if you are really looking to buy this product then your best bet is buying it on Amazon.
I wanted to like this product. The absence of artificial ingredients and the use of Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) as its primary active ingredient appealed to me, and I was excited about finally finding a decently-priced supplement to buy that would help me achieve and maintain the keto state.
Unfortunately, what looked good on paper was an entirely different thing in reality. The taste simply wasn’t to my liking, which was a problem since I work out at least three to four times a week and would have to use the product before each workout. The nausea and gassiness I experienced further convinced me to check out other options.
Speaking of other options, I've since found another ketone booster that has none of the unpleasant side effects of KetoCaNa. It’s called Perfect Keto, and it may just be the one you're looking for. And as a bonus, it actually tastes really good.
