Being on the keto diet, it can be hard to find low carb snacks. This means sugary foods and high-carb treats are out of the question.
But the restrictions of the ketogenic diet don’t mean that you can’t eat anything throughout the day. And to prove that we’ve put together a list of the 10 best keto-friendly snacks that you can get into without feeling that guilty or even worse, without kicking you out of ketosis that you worked so hard for.
Also, we have added an even bigger list of keto-friendly snacks and treats that you can start getting into so stay tuned for that towards the bottom of the article. Let's get started!
Our 10 Favorite Keto-Friendly Snacks
The diet replaces carbohydrates with a high fat intake. But this doesn’t mean that you can just munch on whatever fatty food you want if there are no carbs.
Not all carb free snacks are good to eat while on ketosis, and many on the market are advertised as keto-friendly but which have too high of a protein content. Taking in too much protein can mess up the metabolic state that you’ve worked so hard to achieve. When the body is deprived of carbohydrates, it switches to other sources for energy, sending your body into the metabolic state of ketosis. The body burns fat in that state to stay fueled. But when there’s too much protein in your diet, then it will use the protein as an energy source, which will not lead to weight loss.
To keep going strong on the keto diet, you need not only low carbs, but little or no sugar, high fat intake, and a moderate amount of protein intake (around 20 percent of your daily diet). This list of low carb snack ideas can help you keep up your diet and eat in a delicious and healthy way.
So now, here are our favorite and healthiest snacks for keto diet that you can easily get into without losing your progress while still satisfying those insane cravings.
1. Keto Kookies
Just because you’re sticking to ketosis friendly snacks doesn’t mean you have to give up cookies as part of your diet. Keto Kookies are proof of that. Created by two entrepreneurs who successfully used the keto diet to lose weight, the Keto Kookies are very low in carbs, gluten free, and have no sugar added.
Keto Kookies were also recently recommended by keto-specialist Dr. Dominic D'agostino on the Joe Rogan show.
Types of cookies include double-chocolate, cinnamon snickerdoodle, and the classic chocolate chip. The Keto Kookies are perfect for eating at work or dunking in a glass of milk. Just remember to drink only a small amount of full-fat milk on your diet.
2. Keto Bars
If you’re looking for keto protein bars, then this aptly named company might be the place you want to start. Keto Bars make delicious snack bars that are high fat, low in carbs (only two net grams) and gluten-free. If you miss the days of munching happily away on brownies, then the Keto Bars dark chocolate coconut bars should satisfy your craving.
They also have the popular chocolate and peanut butter bars. In addition to these protein bars, Keto Bars also has several shakes, with scrumptious flavors like vanilla cinnamon, dark chocolate, and coffee.

4. Cauliflower Crust Pizza
Who would've thought that anything with the word 'pizza' will ever get included on a list of low-carb and keto-friendly snacks. So, that just happened.
In our opinion if you haven’t tried cauliflower crust pizza yet, you’re missing out. It’s also easy to make, so it makes for a great treat either to savor at home or take with you to work. All you have to do is put some cauliflower in a food processor, mix it with parmesan cheese, garlic, and egg whites to make the crust. Then load the pizza with the cheeses and toppings you would normally eat on a regular pizza and bake. Simple and tasty!
5. Low Carb Chocolate Mousse
You may be thinking we’re playing tricks on you with this one but don’t worry. We’re not.
In fact chocolate mousse doesn’t always have to be that sugar-filled treat that you have for desserts at restaurants. There are recipes that are pretty smart that alters the sugar into something else that tastes somewhat the same but way healthier and keto-friendly.
It might sound fancy for an everyday treat, but low carb chocolate mousse is simple to make. All you have to do is mix some heavy cream with cocoa powder. Add a dash of vanilla and stevia if you want to sweeten it. Whip to a mousse-like consistency and refrigerate, and you’ll have a decadent low carb snack or dessert.
6. Quest Bars
The bars from Quest Nutrition are also good low carb treats. With about four net grams of carbs, their content isn’t as low as Ketobars, but they still work for your goal. They have a good selection of flavors, including mocha chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough, in addition to cereal protein bars with flavors like waffle and chocolate.
These are well-formulated keto-friendly snacks that you can munch on any time at home. They are also easy to buy online.
One of our favorite things to snack on while on the diet are nuts. There are a few reasons why; they are high in healthy fats, low in carbohydrates, convenient and tasty.
Nuts are known for having a high calorie count and some of them are high in carbs as well, so you will have to pick and choose which ones to munch on as a treat. The most keto-friendly ones are walnuts, brazil nuts, pecans, and macadamia nuts.
8. Atkins Shakes
The protein shakes from Atkins are another tasty option for a healthy snack. They are also loaded with vitamins and minerals. Atkins has shakes in many flavors, from café caramel and cookies and crème to French vanilla, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and strawberry.
The brand also sells low-carb protein bars that can go along with their drink but we really weren't a big fan of the ingredients for their bars.
9. String Cheese
Well, string cheese was an interesting choice for us. The two biggest reasons why we have included it on our list of keto-friendly snacks is because for one it is delicious and will likely satisfy your cravings. And two, it's a convenient treat that is high in both fat and protein.
It still depends on the brand that you pick so before buying string cheese, you should check the ingredients label for the ones without any carbs in it.
10. Grain-Free Finger Sandwiches
In addition to low carb store-bought snacks, you can make them at home too. Choose a grain-free bread to make finger sandwiches, and then load it up with whatever cold cut meats, cheeses, and veggies you desire. As long as you don't load it up with something naughty you should have nothing to worry about when it comes to your diet.
And for newbies, grain-free is anything without wheat, rice, corn, barley, and oats. But for this one, you only have to worry about not having wheat in your bread.
Snacking on a diet doesn’t have to be bland or boring. And it doesn’t mean you have to go out of your way to prepare healthy foods to munch on. These store-bought low carb treats are great when you’re on the go, and the easy-prep low carb snacks can add variety and flavor to your diet. To make the easy-prep keto snacks convenient, it can help to prepare a big batch at the beginning of the week and store it in small-sized containers so that you can grab and go.
